Hello! No, you are not seeing things – I’ve finally knuckled down and written a blog post. Cue Mark Morrison… yes people, I am back! It’s been a while, far longer than I had hoped.
I planned to take some time off over the summer which then went on and on, and suddenly we are now nearing the end of October. There’s been lots going on, and the blog was the one plate I could stop spinning, while I madly tried to keep the others going. Things are FINALLY slowing down and so here I am again.
My brain has been in overdrive during the past few months with blog post ideas popping in and out of my head daily. As I get older, I realise I must write.everything.down otherwise poof! It’s gone forever.
One idea that I’d like to kick off with is… (drumroll, please!) The Hot List! I’ll be updating you regularly on the things that I am loving (be it beauty, TV, fashion, culture, baby, or anything really!) hoping to inspire you… here’s this week’s issue…
I binge-watched this adaptation of the Codename Villanelle novella series within a couple of days while on my commute. It’s about Villanelle, a psychopathic villain, played by the fantastic Jodie Comer from Doctor Foster, and Eve Polastri, a desk-bound MI5 officer, Gray’s Anatomy’s Sandra Oh (equally as good!), as they embark on a game of cat and mouse. The pair become obsessed with each other and therein begins a bloody caper across Europe. Be prepared for plenty of laughs, violence and witty comebacks. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen anything so good – and I’m already impatient for series two to start!
My nails are a complete mess! Probably because I picked off the remains of a gel manicure so of course they look worse for wear now. I am also trying to save money so thought I’d have a go at maintaining them myself… how hard could it be?! This MASQD cuticle nipper from Boots is helping. It’s easy to use and I love the colour. I rub in some cuticle cream onto my nails before using this bad boy to nip the skin. The whole MASQD range is worth a look, especially as there’s currently a BOGOF offer on at the moment.
Snacks! My life currently revolves around them. Who knew they were the solution to (almost) all manner of toddler tantrums. But boy, do they leave a trail of destruction in the car, house and generally wherever the toddler wreaks havoc. That’s why, I love these great snack catchers (what a name)! They are light, easy to carry and can be filled with all manner of snacks… Well, until he decides to take them out and spread his biscuits onto the carpet (fml).
A jumper + shirt combo is perfect for the office as temperatures start to dip. To avoid the layers looking too bulky, this collar shirt from COS is a godsend. It does look strange (almost like a bib!), but once on, you can adjust the fit and add a chunky knit. I picked mine up in the sale a couple of seasons ago and have worn it to death. COS do a couple of different collar styles.
Scamp & Dude is known for its funky prints and has an inspirational story behind its brand. After founder Jo Tutchener-Sharp had brain surgery, she wanted her two kids to feel more secure as she was in hospital for a long time and so created Scamp and Dude. I recently bought one of their swag bags with purpose and use it for lipsticks, tissues, receipts, basically anything that ends up at the bottom of my handbag and never seen again! The swag bag is also the perfect size for nappies and wipes, or even can be used as clutch bag. It comes in five different colourways and all proceeds go to the various charities. I loved this red and white print by my fav beauty journalist Sali Hughes for charity Sarcoma.
